Free Dotnetnuke Template for Visual Studio 2010

As a follow up to my presentation on Dotnetnuke module development at BayDug last month, everyone’s suggestion was to put up the template on codeplex or snowcovered. So here it is.

The C# DNN Module Development template for Visual Studio 2010 is now available for use by everyone and here’s how to use it!

Baydug. An experimental perspective on DNN Module development

DNN is a great framework that gives you a very capable base application right out of the box and a jumpstart with the free modules from the day you install it.

That is only half the story. DNN Module development is so easy one can go from “a DNN user” to a “DNN developer” in less than a few minutes. Want to know how ? Meet me at the next Baydug conference.

The Bay Area DNN User Group

Thanks to Chris Hammond who moved to Bay Area recently we now have a budding DotNetNuke User Group community in our very own backyard – the Silicon Valley. With a guest visit from Joe Brinkman, co-founder of DNN Corp, lots of pizzas and sodas in between some awesome presentations on jQuery (by Joe) and new DNN features (by Chris), how was I supposed to keep away from clicking a few pictures?

Packaging multiple DNN Modules in DotnetNuke 5.0+

How does somebody package a DNN module? Login as host, go to Module Definitions, hit Edit on the module you want to package and voila, there’s a Create Package button!

How do you create a package from command line? Or, how do you create a package that contains multiple packages? I have to admit, I couldn’t Google enough to find a solution. So, here it goes.

Is PowerDNN hosting a rip-off? Or is it really worth it?

I’ve never hosted with PowerDNN. I have no idea why their services are so -- “Expensive.” I also hate spammers. And scammers. So tell me people; what is it that I have missed about PowerDNN? Is it a ripoff? What’s with all the TVs and Giveaways spamming my DNN search tabs on twitter? Are people really stupid? Or is it just me? Updated.

It’s done! It’s over. Goodbye DNN Blog, Hello SpeedBlog.

Written from grounds-up, SpeedBlog is my own platform for writing blogs and articles.

Now, now I’m not going to say much except for quoting purely-narcotic - “Normal blogging shall resume soon.”

This was bound to happen. But it didn’t have to. For an open source framework like DotNetNuke, so powerful and widely adopted, yet blogging or even publishing an article was an after-thought. In the OpenSource world they say, “The product has to be absolutely top-notch to succeed” and yet instead of harnessing and shoring up on the success of DNN, the Blog module stands there, lackluster in every sense, reeking of neglect, derelict, unending wait  except for the oohs and aahs of what’s about to come in the next version.
