I used to read his blog regularly. Then he came to California. And started acting weird. Like playing foosball and stuff and not meeting up and spoiling the parties and all! What? No meet-up yet? Hey, so I’ll write exact opposite of what he writes , with my own opinionated opinion . Like it or not, here are top ten reasons not to ever use the portals to install an additional website on a DNN installation.

Most people would say “plenty” yet all that they’ve done in the way of getting it is the free Google Analytics. Understanding what users do at your websites should be as much of a priority as much is building and providing the content/products/whatever it is you do. Unfortunately relying on Google Analytics gives you too few insights and too late to be of any use.

So here it is. The C# DNN Module Development template for Visual Studio 2010 is now available for use by everyone and here’s how to use it!

An experimental perspective on DNN Module development'/>
DNN is a great framework that gives you a very capable base application right out of the box and a jumpstart with the free modules from the day you install it. That is only half the story. DNN Module development is so easy one can go from “a DNN user” to a “DNN developer” in less than a few minutes. Want to know how ? Meet me at the next Baydug conference.

With a guest visit from Joe Brinkman, co-founder of DNN Corp, lots of pizzas and sodas in between some awesome presentations on jQuery (by Joe) and new DNN features (by Chris), how was I supposed to keep away from clicking a few pictures?

Login as host, go to Module Definitions, hit Edit on the module you want to package and voila, there’s a Create Package button! How do you create a package from command line? Or, how do you create a package that contains multiple packages? I have to admit, I couldn’t Google enough to find a solution. So, here it goes.

So tell me people; what is it that I have missed about PowerDNN? Is it a ripoff? What’s with all the TVs and Giveaways spamming my DNN search tabs on twitter? Are people really stupid? Or is it just me? Updated.

It’s over. Goodbye DNN Blog , Hello SpeedBlog.
Written from grounds-up, SpeedBlog is my own platform for writing blogs and articles.
Now, now I’m not going to say much except for quoting purely-narcotic - “Normal blogging shall resume soon.”

But it didn’t have to. For an open source framework like DotNetNuke, so powerful and widely adopted, yet blogging or even publishing an article was an after-thought. In the OpenSource world they say, “The product has to be absolutely top-notch to succeed” and yet instead of harnessing and shoring up on the success of DNN, the Blog module stands there, lackluster in every sense, reeking of neglect, derelict, unending wait except for the oohs and aahs of what’s about to come in the next version.

Notify on reply to Comment in DNN Blog Module

I know I have been looking like a totally third class blogger (with DNN Blog) without the ability of notifying commenters when their comments have been replied to. Without the notification in place, nobody knows that you’ve replied to them and you cannot really build a meaningful discussion in the absence of a Notification. Even if people do come back and reply to you, the thought chain gets spread over multiple, in-between comments that make no sense to a passer-by. DNN Blog really needs a Notification. Oh well, DNN Blog needs a lot of things to be really up to par. Here’s my quick and dirty solution to add a ‘Notify’ solution to the DNN Blog module.
